Launch of working period 2013 to 2018

TAB's new contract period brings new cooperation partners, additional analysis concepts and new forms of reporting and communication.

Today is the beginning of the new contract period of the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag (TAB) introducing a number of innovations: new cooperation partners, additional analytical approaches and more versatile forms of reporting and communication.

With its Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) headed by Prof. Dr. Armin Grunwald, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) will continue to operate the TAB. This unanimous decision of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment (ABFTA) of the German Bundestag adopted on 27th February 2013 confirms the successful work TAB has done in recent years. At the same time, three additional priorities have been defined: The TA analyses shall focus even more on the guiding principle of »Sustainable Development", the field of "Technology Foresight« will be strengthened by continuous horizon scanning and the exchange of experience and views with players from society shall be given a higher priority by means of systematic discourse analyses and dialogue procedures.

In these three fields of activity, KIT / ITAS will cooperate with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, the Institute for Futures Studies and Technology Assessment (IZT) as well as with the VDI / VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH, both based in Berlin. A presentation of the partners with their key research priorities and concepts, which will enrich the work of TAB, will be the focus of the next »TAB-Brief« (the journal of TAB) to be published in early 2014.
